Dexter Floyd, 16-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, son of Emily (Cissy) Floyd of Raleigh, NC, crossed the Rainbow Bridge into eternal play and endless treats on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 while visiting his grandparents, Pete and Kathryn Floyd in Jackson, NC. Dexter was a distinguished and vivacious gentleman who enjoyed visiting his Papa and Grandma, barking at the mail carrier and carrying the mail to the house, howling to the tune of passing sirens, and aggravating his feral cat friend Mr. Boots. Dexter had a vast collection of stuffed toys which we named, and he knew most of them by name. Dexter entered the America's Favorite Pet Competition, a nationwide competition in 2023, and placed 14th from thousands of entries all across America. Most importantly, he loved snuggling with his Mommy, especially during thunderstorms. Although his departure from this earth has left a trail of broken hearts, he is free to run with boundless energy until we meet again. Run free, my boy, Mommy loves you.
